1924-2011

Bernice Johnson passed away peacefully on July 12, 2011, at the age of 86, after a short battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loving family in her home at the Ashbourne Community in Edmonton, AB.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 1987. Remaining to cherish her memory are son Len (Yvonne), former daughter-in-law and friend, Lynne Johnson; granddaughters Kelly Pizzey (Tal); Kerry Gilmour (Jeff); seven great grand-children and three great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Evedene Taylor (Ron), sister-in-law Mildred Land, and Brother in-law Bill Lazaruk.
Bernice was born in Huntsville, Ontario. She met the love of her life, John, in Toronto, married and with son Lenny moved to Winnipeg in 1949. Bernice moved from Winnipeg to Edmonton in 2002 to be closer to family and enjoyed many visits to Powell River, B.C. where she sat in the sun by the sea.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Ashbourne Community for the kind and loving care they provided. Their personal dedication and affection will always be remembered.
