Herb Breitkreutz
On March, 10, 2016 Herb Breitkreutz of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 82 years. He will be forever loved and missed by his family: wife, Valorie; children Dale (Carol) Breitkreutz, Kathleen (Doug) Reimchen, Daniel Breitkreutz, Tim (Tami Miller) Breitkreutz, Jon (Netasha Manning) Breitkreutz; and Colleen Ann (Andre Lemieux)Breitkreutz; grandchildren Sara (Henry Smith)Breitkreutz, Dylan (Al Kornelsen) Donna and Melissa Reimchen, Andrew, Karlee, Melody and Hope McEwen, Brooke-Lynn and Brianna Manning, Kyle, Jordan and Nicollette Breitkreutz; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Abby and Ava. Herb is survived by his sister Ida Schulz. He was predeceased by two sisters Elfrieda and Selma.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Holyrood Extendicare for their kind and compassionate care.

Our heartfelt condolences to Herb’s wife Val and his family. We have known Herb for a few years while he resided in Calgary. He was a great friend and buddy at the YMCA exercise class for cardiac patients. The sharing of stories (some true) and friendship among the group at Tim Horton’s after the exercise classes will be forever great memories of Herb’s contribution to “coffee time”. He will be missed.

I was sorry to read in the Journal of Herb’s passing. I am also sorry that we have lost contact. Perhaps we can get together for coffee and a visit sometime.

I have a lot of memories of Uncle Herb over the years. As a child, I always enjoyed hearing that he was coming for a visit. Because when he came, there were always some cousins coming with. At that age, I enjoyed Uncle Herb, but someone my age always trumped the adults.
When Karla, Jim, Kara and I came to Canada for Aunt Ida’s 25th anniversary, we stayed with Uncle Herb and Aunt Val. He loaned us his car to see Aunt Selma and to go up to the Schultz’s. I think it was a Thunderbird.
There was the time that I went to Hinton on company business. My co-worker was going to take a short cut when we returned to Edmonton and got us lost. He pulled into a neighborhood at two am to try and figure out where we were on the map. I looked up and saw Herb and Val’s house and told him how to get back to the main road. Later when I mentioned this to Uncle Herb, he asked why I did not come up and ring the doorbell. Aunt Val was happy that I did not ring the doorbell at 2 am.
Uncle Herb and Aunt Val along with Ann and Jonathon stopped by Fort Collins while mom was in the hospital following her heart surgery. Later, Uncle Herb surprised us be making a quick in and out trip to be at mom’s funeral.
When Karla and I drove up to Canada about 5 years ago, Uncle Herb and Val let us stay with them and had Tim, Sam and Lil over for a good visit.
Aunt Val, Dale, Kathleen, Dan, Tim, Ann and Jon and all your families, you will all be in our prayers as you grieve the loss of a husband, father and grandfather.

I want to thank everyone who gave there goodbyes. Herb will be forever loved and missed by everyone.
We as the survivors can pass on his memory to the next generation.

Grandpa Herb, it’s been eight years since you passed. You will be remember by your three grand kids. Andrew, Melody, Karlee, and Hope. May you rest in peace.
