He was a great man who inspired so many of us, and I am proud to say that we were friends for most of my 35 years with ATB. He had my fullest respect and truly was “One of the good ones”. He had a shoulder employees could lean on.

  13. re;Mr. A.O. Bray
We would like to extend our sympathies to you, Mrs. Bray, and Lisa. I was privileged to serve under Mr. Bray when he was superintendent of Alberta Treasury Branches. He was a man of integrity and was highly respected by many of us. By appointing committees to oversee the many facets of ATB, he had time to visit the branches to hear of local concerns. He took a personal interest in his staff and offered guidance and encouragement to build up the customer base of the branches. The importance of Agriculture was a key element of Mr. Bray’s philosophy and thus he established the Agricultural Department of which I was the first general manager. He encouraged me personally to develop agriculture related policies which improved ATB’s relationship with the agriculture community. For this, I am truly grateful. I considered Mr. Bray both a mentor and friend and am thankful I had the opportunity to serve under his guidance.

    • George and Marjorie thank you for your condolences. These are such kind words and memories that bring us much comfort.

  14. Hi Lisa. I am saddened to learn of your loss. All my best to you and yours. Bill.

    • Bill thank you so much for your condolences. Very kind and nice to hear from you.

  15. Lisa and Sharon. I am sorry to hear of Al’s passing.
He was an amazing man with keen insights. It was an honour and a pleasure to know him.

  16. Better late than never? As a business reporter, I knew Al for years. I’m not competent to assess a banker’s professional ability, Sharon and Lisa, but I wouldn’t have hesitated to invest in any operation run by your husband/father. Besides a fine intellect and plenty of common sense, Al was supremely trustworthy, possibly the most honest senior executive whom I ever met. Also a wonderful story teller, with a marvelous sense of irony. I’m sure it’s terribly hard to lose the man. God be with you.

  17. Rest in peace. I have fond memories of working under Mr Bray in the 80s. Probably the best boss I ever had. So sorry for your loss.
