Alvera Jane Scowen (nee Hadley)
June 2, 1929 – September 11, 2019
With great sadness, we said goodbye to Vera Scowen on September 11, 2019. Vera was born and lived all her 90 years in Edmonton.
A devoted wife and mother, Vera also loved singing, gardening, baking, reading, going for walks, and visiting family and friends. Vera was predeceased by her husband Linnard (2007) and son David (1984).
Vera is survived by her children: Pam (Richard Kellett), Liz Davison (Terry), Keith, and Anthony; 2 grandsons, Paul Davison (Blaine) and Andrew Davison; 1 great granddaughter Reese Davison; a large extended family; and Donna Cameron de Jimenez (Vera’s “other daughter”) and her family.
Vera was one of nine children and is also survived by her last remaining sibling, Malcolm Hadley of New Westminster, B.C.

Pam, Richard, Liz, Terry, Keith and Tony… so sorry to hear that Vera passed away. I am sending you all my love. Vera had a great impact on me as a kid – her (and your) door was always open and she loved to have me come through it. She fed me and chatted with me with such interest and made me feel important and she could talk about just about anything. I remember her laughter. She was such a wonderful person.I am so glad I got to see her one more time at her 90th birthday and to see all of you too. I am thinking of you all and will always remember her with fondness and love.

thank you for including me in the obit. your Mom holds, and always will, a very special place in my heart. I very much doubt I would be the person I am if she had not been in my life. She indeed was my other Mother. Many hugs to you and I’m so sorry I cant be with you now. I lit a candle for her in the Glasgow Cathedral and added a few prayers to help open the gates to heaven for her.

I was very saddened to hear of Aunt Vera’s passing. She was a kind and generous soul. My heartfelt condolences.

To you my sweet cousins love and hugs. I too know the deep sorrow you feel at loosing your parent. Your Mom was my favourite. I have many fond memories of the time I spent with her. I will always remember her giggle and her singing to me. She is in heaven now singing and tending the flowers. May you Rest In Peace sweet Auntie Vera.
