  1. Bert, I will always remember you puttering around the house working on various projects, and constructing things out of willow branches and driftwood. Your creativity knew no bounds! You always seemed so at home when you were camping and enjoying the outdoors. You were one of the first people I knew to demonstrate how to live a full life, in a very simple manner, living with only the things you needed, and not a ton of unnecessary clutter. You always had a smile and a warm greeting; your honesty and genuine nature was apparent. You have left an imprint on my heart and I will always have fond memories of you.
To Travis, Shanna and Jade, my heart is with you right now.
Rest in peace and light, Bert.
    Melissa

  2. Travis, Shanna & Family.
Please accept my sincere condolence in the passing of Your Father Bert.
Bert and I first met in 1964 working for the Alberta Government.
Bert and Your Mother Mary became good friends with my wife Rose and I.
It is with deep sadness to hear that my Friend has left us.
I am currently in Victoria attending to my elderly Parents and regret that I will be unable to attend Bert’s memorial service. My prayers and thoughts are with You.
    Sincerely, Gary Shak

  3. My deepest condolences to you Travis, Shanna (Quentin) and Jade. Bert and I had 10 wonderful married years together doing what we loved to do, camping, hiking, going on trips, walking Auzzie (beloved dog), and walking the trails around Slocan Valley. He loved working outside in the garden making a rock garden and always building or working on something with wood. He also loved rocks and worked very hard to get a large one in the yard with a hole right through it. I treasure and cherish the years we had together and will remember Bert with fond memories. Bert, you are in peace now.
Thank you for being a part of my life.
    Cheryl

  5. Being a friend of Travis since our mid-teens, I always admired the easy-going spirit and patience of Bert. His tolerance for our shenanigans was nothing short of amazing.

Many times that I would arrive at their house, he would be the first to greet me, as he was in the garage working on his canoe or other projects he envisioned. I would sometimes ask him what he was working on, and he would always take the time to explain his grand scheme and the processes involved. Although I rarely understood what he was explaining, his genuine personality with a warm smile always kept me interested.

Bert, you will be truly missed.

Travis, Shanna, Quentin and Jade, you have our deepest sympathies.

    Dean Hess & Family
