  6. Nell, Mike, and Family,
We are so deeply saddened to hear of Curtis’ recent passing. Curtis will be fondly remembered in our hearts as a very caring and compassionate man, with an amazing sense of humour. We have many fond memories that we will cherish always, of our childhood growing up together in our neighbourhood. Those later years when we would get together while Curtis was attending university, will also be fondly remembered. We are sad that many years have passed since we last visited. Curtis will be greatly missed by all whose lives he has touched.
Sending our deepest sympathy to your family,
    Olga Ivanchuk and Family

  7. Nell, Mike, Greg and Glen

We are deeply saddened and shocked to hear about the passing of Curtis. Our deepest heart felt sympathy goes out to the Makar family for your loss. You were such wonderful neighbours, so sad that you are going through this. I have nothing but fond memories of Curtis growing up and as young adults as close friends. The fun times babysitting Curtis, Greg and Glen and the years when Curtis attended U of A with Bruce – our many Friday nights at our place watching movies and sharing stories. I’ll never forget the sound of Curtis’ infectious laughter and the warmth of his beaming smile. He will be lovingly missed.
Lastly, I thank Curtis for being one of the passengers on my train of life!

    With love,
    Jamie and Bruce Porter

  8. My condolances to the Makar family.

Curtis and I were high school friends and although I havent seen him in many years, he was often in my thoughts. Curtis was a gregarious, kind and thoughtful man with a wicked sense of humor and a smile that could turn a bad day to a great one! He was a loyal friend and a lovely human being. He will be missed.

  9. Dear Mike, Nell, Greg and Glen

Very shocked and sorry to hear the recent news about the passing of Curtis. My deepest condolences to all of you and your families. I have very fond memories of times we shared while living those early years or visits from BC on Malmo road. Curtis and spent many hours cooling off running thru the sprinklers, or enjoying a few slices of cool watermelon on the front porch. When we weren’t hanging out with the sisters of the neighborhood we managed to find trouble. I recall having disobeying strict orders not to leave the street and Curtis and I finding ourselves splitting a side of fries and gravy at the Southgate mall. Also many times where Mike chased us out of the garage caught in the act of bouncing around the classic Pick up truck. Truth be told Curtis was more of an accomplish then the instigator. In all seriousness these were only some of the great times I was fortunate to share with Curtis.

Curtis will be remembered as a kind hearted, fun loving, and life long friend.
    RIP Curtis

  12. I was so saddened to hear this news today. My heart goes out to the Makar family. Curtis was such a huge part of my youth and I can’t think of a high school memory that does not involve or include him. For many years after high school we shared many laughs and great times, and his smile is forever etched in my mind. Sadly, we lost touch as our lives moved forward but I often thought of him and tried to locate him without success. Today, I can picture him driving my Malibu (without my parents knowledge, of course), with the radio blaring and without a care in the world. I wish you peace my friend, and I’m sure you were laughing your way through life.

  13. Dear Nell, Mike and Family,

It was a hard day yesterday, when I was notified of Curtis’s passing away. The instant memory that came to my mind was was Curtis and Rick playing Cowboys and Indians. Curtis was always the hero Cowboy and will always be that in my heart! My thought and prayers are for you and the family. God Bless

  14. My sincerest condolences to Curtis’s loved ones. I only worked with Curtis at a distance over the past 7 years but found him funny with a dramatic flair which always made me laugh. Even when things were tense, his dry humour lightened the load. It’s sad that he retired early in life and was not able to fully enjoy the benefits for years and years. God bless Curtis. May his loved ones reflect and remember the fun times together. Rest in peace!

  15. We were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Curtis. Our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to you Nell, Mike and all you family. God Bless. He will be missed.

  16. To the family of Curtis…I am so very saddened when I came upon this…Curtis and I were very, very close when he attended the U of MN. In the last few years we had a falling out and I was looking for him on the internet to reconnect when I saw this. I cannot tell you how sad my daughter and I are to hear this news. I would like to send your family a personal letter and some pictures I have of Curtis. Know that we hold dearly in our hearts.
    Sincerely
    Terri
