  1. Jasbir I am truly sorry for your loss.

  2. Today we bid farewell to a good friend of us. She endured a lot of pain but never uttered a word of curse or shown hopelessness. She kept her faith intact and fought a good fight until her last breath. May the Good Lord comfort all her family members and friends who are bereaving of her demise. Goodbye from all of us Divina.

  3. Our Deepest Condolences to Jasbeer Uncle and family. Deena Aunty was an important figure in my life because she was the neighbor in Castledowns that I always ran to when I forgot my house keys. She would feed me and care for my brother and sister. Since my parents both worked various shift work and we had to be home alone after school, I always felt safe because I knew that Jasbeer Uncle and Deena Aunty were just across the street. They would always come to my aid if I needed anything. Ajit, Chotu and Nina were like my little siblings and we would play together when we were young. This gave Deena Aunty the opportunity to get a couple hours of sleep after the night shift as a nurse. I always felt comfortable going to the Singh house whenever I wanted to. One of my favorite foods that aunty made was her spicy chickpeas. Even though our families moved away from the old CD neighborhood, we still kept in touch and Deena Aunty worked with my mom. Deena aunty was there for many of the special events in my life (birthdays, graduation party, wedding shower and my son’s baptism). She was a great friend to my parents and a wonderful aunty to me. Every time I visit Edmonton, I make a special visit to see her. I never need to call, I just show up at her front door. I’m so glad my kids got to know her and understand why she is so special to me. My kids live on the same block as their grandparents and numerous cousins in NY so they don’t know how it feels when relatives live far away. I am so thankful that although I didn’t have relatives live close by me growing up, I still had the Singh family who treated me as their own and took care of me. I will always be grateful and the verse from 2 Timothy 4:7 comes to mind when I think about Deena Aunty. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” We are all blessed to have known her. Love and prayers from your NY family: Leena (Chacko), Jiji, Tommy and Yasmine Mathew
