Edward (Ted) Tkachuk
October 13,1953 - February 01, 2019
With great sadness we share with you that Ted has passed away.
He will be forever missed by his beloved wife and partner of 35 years, Rosemary Karges. He leaves behind his sons, Simon Fraser (Declan and Tavish) of St Albert, Aaron Fraser (Tasha LaFayette) and their children Aries and Addison of Edmonton. He leaves behind his brother Bill Tkachuk (Kathy) and sister Joanne Tkachuk (Don Schick) all of Edmonton, his uncles Dennis Down and Billy Down (Bea) and numerous cousins all in Saskatchewan of whom he was so very fond. He is predeceased by his parents Bill and Ethel Tkachuk.
His career in Film and Television spanned over 35 years first ACCESS Network then Video Pack as well as time freelancing. For the past 15 years, he shared great friendship and camaraderie with his fellow workers at Samual and Son in Nisku.
He will be remembered for his humor and quick wit, the quiet compassion with which he always supported his family and friends. He enjoyed many years of travel and adventure with his Harley Buddies. In the past few years, Cuba had become his Happy Place. His 4 grandchildren were his greatest joy and delight.
A celebration of his life will take place later this summer. In lieu of flowers please donate to the SPCA, or the charity of your choice.
Sorry to hear about Ted, much to young to have left us. It was a privilege to have worked with Ted. All I can say is I wish I could have been as good at what I did as Ted was at what he did.
Rosemary, I am so sorry for your loss. Ted conveyed a quiet confidence and was a professional in every aspect of long form editing. He was respected by everyone in the workplace at Access. Ted was a truly unique individual. The world needs more like him. I’ll always remember him dressed in his full Harley Davidson regalia while video editing. In the winter. Now that’s commitment.
Although I haven’t seen him in over 30 years, his impression will stay with me. Condolences on your loss.
So sad to learn of Ted’s passing. His creative nature as a video editor transformed ordinary programs into outstanding productions. It was a pleasure to work with him after the Access era at various production companies. His unbridled humour, and generous demeanour turned a common workplace into a family extension, that cared for each other. His venture into trucking illustrated his keen ability to adapt, explore, and enjoy his life, with Rosemary by his side. Our sincere condolences to Rosemary and family.
