With great sadness the family of Forrest Bird announces his passing on Sunday August 30, 2020 at the age of 77.

Forrest embraced life with a quiet humor and love of sport with good friends. He relished moments spent on the curling ice, the golf course (except hole 6 at Pine Hills ”it’s a buggar”), fishing in Clearwater County, and creating in his woodworking shop. The past 9 years spent with his “very special lady” Rita travelling, sharing sporting activities and attending family gatherings were very dear to him.

His career spanned 31 years as a vice principal and teacher of chemistry and physics, earning his master’s degree in 1987. He taught with intensity and shared respect, and was always keen to embrace new technologies.

Forrest will be missed by his partner Rita Wesley; his children Tina (Steve), Cari, and Ryan (Mihoko); grandchildren Ella and Fisher; sisters Heather and Sherry (Tim); nieces and nephews; Rita’s daughters Nicole, Roseanne and Kathryn and their families.

Rita, Tina, Cari and Ryan extend much gratitude to the nursing staff on 5A2 at the University of Alberta Hospital for their exceptional care over the past month.

Donations may be made to support research at the Alzheimer Society of Canada

Given covid restrictions, a private celebration of life will be held at Trinity Funeral Home on Saturday September 5, 2020 at 11:00. All are invited to attend this service virtually by accessing the live feed at this link:
