November 21, 1938 – February 14, 2019

It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Garnet MacTaggart, who passed away peacefully at the age of 80 years at the Mazankowski Heart Institute in Edmonton, AB on February 14 with his loving family at his side.

He will be forever remembered by his wife of 51 years, Donna, his daughter Heather (Alex) Gorodetsky, son Cory (Dean) MacTaggart, grandchildren Maria and Ethan Gorodetsky, sister Ivy Smith, sister-in-law Mary MacTaggart, sister-in-law Kay (Dennie) Rubenok, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Garnet was a realtor for over 40 years and worked on the City of Edmonton Assessment Review Board. He enjoyed gardening, baking bread, and spending time on the acreage with his loving family and dogs.

Our family sincerely thanks all the doctors and nurses who helped Garnet in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mazankowski Heart Institute in memory of Garnet would be greatly appreciated.

  4. I just saw Garnet’s obituary on the internet and wanted to give my condolences. It was good to meet Garnet again after knowing him from school days. It was a good experience teaching Heather and Garnet’s interaction with Heather’s success was important. It was also good to meet Donna. I know what it is like to lose a beloved husband and go through missing him. He has been gone 20 years. I wish you the best. Deanna Jensen
