September 4, 1952 – January 8, 2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Mom, Wife, Grammie, Daughter, Sister and friend to so many. After going through a double lung transplant on November 7th, 2019 she was on the long-awaited road to healing. On January 8, 2020 she suffered from a major heart attack due to blood clots in her lungs and was not able to recover at the University of Alberta Hospital.

Melody will forever be remembered by her loving husband, John (Jim); their beloved children: Kelly, Kimberly (Ross) Pritchard, Kerri (Ray) and cherished grandchildren: Tori and Makayla. She will also forever be remembered by her mother: Elaine Matthews, brothers; Brent and Darren, nieces and nephews and many more family and friends.

A cremation has taken place and no service will be held. Melody had a passion and was well known for taking the most beautiful landscape and wildlife pictures, and her ashes will be spread throughout her favorites places to continue taking pictures eternally.

A special thank you to all the staff at the University of Alberta Hospital for the care, compassion and attention that was shown to Melody.
