Meng Chang Lin (Linya)

13 December 1969 - 4 August 2020

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved wife Meng Chang Lin (Linya), to those who knew and loved her.

Linya's short life, 50, was filled with a passion for music and walks in nature and, above all, the cherished time spent with family and friends.

Linya moved to Edmonton, Canada in 2005 from Shenzhen, China, where she married Calvin Wandler the year before. She embraced her new life and found fulfillment in building a life with Calvin and in lifting the spirits of others through online ventures in natural health products and kites.

Linya’s courage in the face of a lengthy battle with mental illness and her willingness to put others first in spite of it was an inspiration to all who knew her and a testament to the love and support she received from family, friends and caregivers alike.

In addition to her loving husband, Calvin, she is survived by her mother, Chen Yue Lan; brother, Lin TianKe; niece, Lin Meng Sheung; uncle, LS Siew; and other immediate family members, as well as her extended Canadian family and friends.

A celebration of Linya’s life will be held when family and friends are allowed to travel and gather.

"Fly to the Angels, heaven awaits your heart and flowers bloom in your name."

  1. We can’t imagine what you must be feeling right now, but we want you to know that we are here for you.

With each new day, may peace find a place in your heart.

    Ambrose & Wendi

  2. Calvin my deepest condolences to you during this difficult moment. Linya was a sweet lady and I would have loved to be around her more. I am so glad I met her and I know she is your angel now.

    • Thank you very much for you condolences and support Lorena. After learning of Linya’s desire to work online you became an inspiration and mentor to her and she always looked forward to your communications. Linya and I were very happy that recently you were able to come over to our place to meet her in person and give her a big hug. Linya is dearly missed by all.

  3. Curtis told me of the tragic passing of your beautiful wife and I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I am sending prayers to you and your family. God bless.

    • Thank you very much for your prayers and condolences Allyson. Linya is dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

  4. We are all deeply saddened by Linyas passing. She was and still is an angel with the purest of souls. Everyone that had the honour to experience her immeasurable kindness is truly blessed. She represented all that is good in this world and it will never be the same without her. Calvin there is no doubt that she is watching over you as are we. You should not have to go through a devastating time like this alone. We are here for you and want to help as much as we can. Whatever you need, night or day, just give us a call.

    • Thank you very much for your kind words, condolences, and support Jocelyn & Adam.
Linya was very special to many people and I’m grateful to have been able to share my life with her. Linya was an Angel and will be missed dearly, the light that once guided my life is gone forever.

  5. Calvin please know that we are thinking of you and are here for you if you need anything.

    • Thank you for your kind words and support Curtis. You have been supportive through out my relationship with Linya, from the immigration process in the very beginning, right through the most difficult times Linya and I have gone through in our marriage. You have been a mentor and true friend for many years. I’m truly grateful for your support.

  6. Linya filled such a special place in our hearts, we loved her more than words can say. Precious memories rest in hearts that will never go away. As much as she was part of our family, we know that Heaven must be happy to have another Angel. I loved how you called me “mama”.
    Love from your Canadian mama.

    • Thank you very much for your kind words and support mother. Linya and I enjoyed the times we were able to visit with you and dad, Linya loved you like her own mother and knew she was part of our family. Linya was an angel, sent to me by God, and now that she is gone I miss her dearly and I will hold her in my heart forever.

  7. Our deepest feelings for your loss. I will miss Linya as she called herself my little sister. She was my friend and I came to love her very much. We look forward to seeing her in the paradise under far better conditions than we experience now. Revelation 21:4

    • Judy, you have been huge inspiration and mentor to Linya for many years and she did look up to you as her big sister. After your visits together she was always on cloud nine, and yes, that’s up there. Not many people understood what Linya was going through as she kept it quiet out of fear of rejection, I was very happy when she finally decided to tell you of her illness, she trusted you. Bruce even though we have not known each other for very long your guidance, kindness, and support has helped me cope and deal with this difficult situation. We were blessed to have both of you in our life.

  8. So sad for your loss.
If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, Keep me in your heart, and I’ll stay there forever.

    • Thank you very much Randy for your kind words and condolences. This absolutely the worst time of my life, she was such an angel, I miss her dearly.

  9. Thank you Ambrose and Wendi for your kind words and support. It was very nice you were able to visit me during this lonely and difficult time. Marrying Linya was the best thing that ever happened to me and her passing has left a huge hole in my heart and in my life. This is without question the worst time of my life and I’m truly grateful for your support.
