Olivia Loraine Koffler
On January 3, 2021, at age 63, Olivia passed away at her home in Edmonton, Alberta.
She was born September 14, 1957 to Loretta and Paul Koffler in Regina, Saskatchewan. She attended the University of Alberta and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor’s in Physical Education. She went on to obtain her Registered Nurse degree at the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing in Halifax in 1994. She worked as a nurse in Nova Scotia, Idaho, Washington and Arizona before returning to Alberta in 2010.
Olivia was predeceased by her parents and by her brothers Kevin and Kenneth Koffler.
Olivia leaves behind her second mother Della Howe, siblings Douglas (Debbie) Koffler, Christine (Gary) Gillet and Carol Koffler; her children Tara, Keith (Margaret), Kiel, and Sean (Madeline) Howe; and seven grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

At Olivia’s wishes, cremation has been arranged and her ashes will be scattered at a later date.
Our love , thoughts and prayers to you during this difficult time. I know how much she loved you and was always very proud of you as she told me many times in our conversations. I wish this could have ended differently but she will always watch over you. A special thanks to Meg and Keith. It was comforting to know you were there for her in her last year in Edmonton. Dear Family and Friends of Olivia,
I have just, today, learned of Olivia’s passing.
I went to nursing school with her. I remember her as the smartest student in the class, funny and bright, and a beautiful woman. She had a fierce, loyal and protective love for her family and would drive many miles through bad weather to be with them as much as possible during our study years. I remember her getting in trouble one day for staying home with a sick child – one off the twins. I recall our dismay over the irony of being penalized by a nursing school for her caring for her own child. She was so very proud of all of them, and committed to them being her priority. She was focused and hard working in her pursuit of excellence in nursing and applied knowledge and compassion in equal doses. She is who I would have wanted as my nurse if I ever needed one.
We went our separate ways after graduating and regretfully lost touch. Please accept my sincere condolences, Tara, Kieth, Kiel, Sean, and family.
