  23. A true gentleman whose kindness and generosity transcended the right of way and into many of our hearts. From the grizzled veterans of an industry to fresh faces just starting out, he treated you with sincerity and respect. He shared his knowledge of the industry and set the example on how one should carry themselves. Omer you will be missed dearly.

  24. I am very saddened to hear about the passing of Omer and I send my deepest condolences to his family. I had the good fortune to work with Omer for 15 years. As a Pipe Foreman, he seemed so effortlessly organized, efficient and professional; the “Martel” Pipe Gang always got the job done and done well. But more than his legacy in the pipeline world, he should be remembered for the great family man that he was. His love and support for his family over the years did not go unnoticed and was admirable. May all those memories of a life well lived help heal your heavy hearts.

Always remember him with a big smile at hockey games, and the time he saved Ty and myself with a flat tire in -40.
That is what grandpas are for. There your first and last line of defence. Will not forget his generosity and big heart.

Sorry Martel family on your passing, i send my love and support.

    • Thanks for your great memories of my dad

  33. I just suddenly came across this obituary. My mother, Irene Rahn, was Omer’s cousin. My grandpa Ludger was the brother of Ernst Martel. Mom passed away in 2013. It’s good to think of this great family being reunited in Heaven as family member is greeted by family member. Ready to move in to the place/mansion prepared for us by Jesus. (John 14). I find great comfort in this. I hope you do too.

    Love Laura-Lee Rahn

    • Thank-you it’s definitely good to know that we have a big loving family.

  34. Over 4 years ago and still think about him quite a bit. He definitely radiated an energy and aura around him that made people feel good. The world is a lesser place without him here, but heaven became a whole lot better the minute he walked in.
    Bye for now
    Love 5
