It is with the greatest of sorrow that we say goodbye to our beloved mother, Connie Louise Burgess.

She passed away on June 18, 2021 in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 66.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her beloved children Jennifer Thorburn and Duncan Thorburn, both of Edmonton.

Connie was raised in Edson and lived in Calgary, Fox Creek and Edmonton. It was in Calgary where she started her family. She had a wonderful sense of humour, and had many interests, including reading, gardening, berry picking, music, writing, and pets. The one thing she enjoyed more than anything in life, other than her children, was going to Beaumaris Lake in Castle Downs, to feed the ducks.

She also leaves to mourn, seven brothers and sisters and their families, as well as numerous friends where she worked at the University of Alberta for many years.

Connie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rest In Peace Connie. You have earned your wings and are now soaring with the angels.

As requested, there will be no service.

(best recalled as one very cute vibrant smile
from those scant moments of childhood shared).

IN PASSING, by Lisel Mueller (1924-2020)

    How swiftly the strained honey
    of afternoon light
    flows into darkness
and the closed bud shrugs off
    its special mystery
in order to break into blossom:
    as if what exists, exists
so that it can be lost
    and become precious.

My sincere condolences to her children and family …
    so saddened by your loss.

  4. Going to miss you mom.
I learned so much from you. You taught me all about nature as a child. All the different plants and animal’s. I have so many fond memories of our little walks, berry picking along the way.
You had a wicked sense of humor, always joking and making up funny little songs for everything.
I remember sitting with you late at night playing Adventures of Link while having a few drinks and Link would be falling off cliffs.
Going to see the ducks was always fun and it was so sad when your health started to decline and could no longer go
I will miss just visiting you at your apartment and chatting

    Love you mom
