It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Elmer (Al) Doucet in Edmonton Alberta, formerly from Beresford New Brunswick, passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 68.

Born on March 8, 1958, in Beresford, New Brunswick. and was the son of late Gilbert Doucet and late Therese (Hachery) Doucet. He is survived by his loving wife Julie Doucet, two brothers, Guy Doucet (Solange), Ralph Doucet (Jasmine) both of South Tetagouche NB and two sisters, Sandy Bourgeois (Paul) of North Carolina, and Gladys Doucet (Rene) of Dieppe NB and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Al lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering willingness to help others. He was known as someone who would always lend a hand when it was needed without being asked and who could fix just about anything. His kindness, positive attitude, warm heart, and cheerful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone, fortunate enough to know him. Above all, Al adored his wife with all his heart. Their love was the foundation of his life, and he treasured every moment they shared together. It was seldom that you would see one without the other.

Al dedicated many years of service to Edmonton Transit, a career he truly loved. As a bus driver, he took great pride in his work and enjoyed the countless passengers he met along the way. He valued the connections he made and looked forward to each day on the road. He received numerous safe driving and perfect attendance awards because of his strong work ethic.

Al found happiness in many of life’s simple pleasures, especially road trips, camping, going for bike rides, NASCAR races, or just sitting on a patio with a cold beer chatting with friends or family. Family and friends will fondly remember hearing him humming his cheerful tunes throughout the day, a simple reflection of the joy and positivity he carried wherever he went.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his kindness, generosity, good nature, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him.

In keeping with Al’s wishes, there will be no funeral service Al will be remembered and missed by all those who held a place for him in their hearts.
