It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our dad.
Ed leaves to mourn his beloved bride of 65 years Shirley (nee Kline), children Mark (Jean), Scott (Diane), Glenn (Lisa), Joanne (Darin), numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren (all nicknamed George) whom he loved with all his might.
Sharing our sorrow; extended family across Canada and Washington state, life-long friends, and co-workers.
Ed was genuinely interested in everyone he met, he was quick to share a (long) story or take an opportunity to tell a dad joke. He was a gem; and will be missed.
At dad’s request, no funeral will be held.
If you so desire, please offer a toast to Ed with a glass of scotch.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.

A loving father, tender and kind, what a beautiful memory you left behind.

  2. I’m am truly very sad to hear about Ed passing away! Another angel gets their wings! My heart goes out to the whole family and you are all in my thoughts and heart!

    • Thank you very much Ms. Boerboom, we truly appreciate it.

  3. To all of Ed’s family: I worked with Ed at GOA and we continued our friendship after he retired. I grew up not far from where I grew up in Winnipeg. We also discovered that he and Shirley were great friends with the Leeders. I was school friends with their daughter Gayle. I loved his stories! I loved how he loved Shirley and all you kids and grands and greats. I last saw him a few years ago when he and your Mom joined some former colleagues for drinks – one of his favourite things!! I always thought that Ed was a true gentleman of bygone years. Shaun and I are saddened to hear of his passing. This evening I will have a glass of scotch and toast him with a tear in my eye and a smile on my face. RIP Ed, your were a fine man.

    Carlyne and Shaun Murphy
