Antonio Azevedo
It’s with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Antonio (Tony) Azevedo on May 6, 2025, at the age of 78.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dulce do Céu Azevedo; son, Vitor (Memory) Azevedo; daughter, Claudia (Nelson) Barata; and grandchildren, Anaya, Cruz, and Rafael. He also leaves behind his brother Acacio (Janet) Azevedo in Ontario, his sisters Ester da Conceição (José) Moniz and Maria do Amparo (Tozé) Moura in Portugal, brothers-in-law Fernando (Lucia) Pinto and Diamantino (Lurdes) Pinto in Portugal, and many nieces and nephews.
Tony was born in Felgar, Portugal, on March 21, 1947, to Aurelio Azevedo and Ana Marcos. He first came to Canada in 1974, looking for adventure and opportunity, returning to Portugal, where he married Dulce and started his family. In 1978, Tony moved his young family to Edmonton, where he built a life for them working in Fort McMurray and becoming a carpenter by trade.
Tony will be remembered as an incredibly hardworking, humble man, always available to provide support to anyone in need. His love for connection, community and service allowed him to build a beautiful life surrounded by dear friends who felt like family who will always hold his memory close to their hearts.
