Edward (Ed) Albart
December 29, 1927 – September 22, 2025

With love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Edward (Ed) Albart announces his passing on September 22, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 97.

Born December 29, 1927, in Fork River, Manitoba, Ed was the son of Joseph and Anastasia (Nellie) Rudkiewich. His parents and eight siblings predeceased him: Bronson, Bill, Julie, Michael, Betty, Stella, Helen, and Rita.

On September 1, 1948, Ed married Joyce C. Wood of East Coulee, Alberta. He has two surviving daughters, Carol McKay of Boswell, BC, and Roxanne Vinet of Vancouver, BC. He took pride in his grandchildren, Darin McKay and Marcia McKay, as well as his great-grandson, Aiden Blanch. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will remember him with love, laughter, and a smile.

Ed served in the Canadian Army from May 9, 1949, to March 13, 1953. He fought in the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Medal and UN Service Star in recognition of his service. After returning home, Ed built a successful career as an ironworker, proudly belonging to Iron Workers Local 720 in Edmonton for over 25 years.

Outside of work, Ed was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours enjoying Alberta’s lakes and rivers. He found great joy in the outdoors. Never one to sit idle, Ed enjoyed keeping busy at every stage of life. In his 70s, with the help of his niece Linda, he happily took on a job mowing grass alongside her husband at the golf course—where he loved the fresh air and took special care to keep his mower in top shape. Linda and Ed also shared many laughs and adventures, including many outings to the casino.

He will be deeply missed by his dear friend, Joan Thibault, and her family, who shared his later years with kindness and companionship. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported Ed in his long and full life.

Ed will be laid to rest in the Military Section of Northern Lights Cemetery, 15203 Campbell Road NW, Edmonton, AB, on October 4, 2025, at 11:00 am. Please meet at the Wall of Remembrance.
