Bruce Gary Shemko
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bruce Gary Shemko, age 59, of Edmonton, Alberta, on April 19, 2026.
Born on August 14, 1966, in Edmonton, Bruce spent his entire life in the city he proudly called home. He was predeceased by his parents, Irene and Sam Shemko.
Bruce will be remembered for his warm heart, contagious laugh, and love of travel. He found happiness in the outdoors, especially while hunting and golfing with his son, Dustin. Whether fly fishing, sharing stories, or spending time with friends and family, Bruce had a way of making those around him feel welcome and at ease.
He is lovingly remembered by his children, Breanne and Dustin Shemko, his former spouse Lisa Shemko, and his siblings: Grant Shemko, Gayle Fjeld (Wayne), and Wendy Galick (Nick). He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.
Though he is gone, the laughter he shared and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in early June.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Bruce’s memory.
Breanne and Dustin, I am so sorry you have to experience the pain of losing a parent so young. I hope you can surround yourself with family and friends to support you through your grief and know you are in our thoughts and hearts.
Soo sad. Bruce was an awesome buddy. Surely going to be missed.
