Ernie Joseph Grandysh

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernie Grandysh on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the age of 76.

Ernie was born on December 14, 1949, in Edmonton, Alberta. He spent his early years in Newbrook, where his parents owned and operated a store. Later, he moved to Edmonton and eventually settled in Morinville.

Throughout his life, Ernie worked several jobs and later owned his own company alongside his brother Wayne. He enjoyed travelling, maintaining his fish tanks, collecting sculptured bears, and caring for plants — especially African violets, which he loved to watch grow.

Above all else, family meant everything to Ernie. He always wanted to make sure everyone was okay and cared deeply for those he loved. His kindness, warmth, and caring nature brought joy to many, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ernie is lovingly remembered by his partner, Patsy Krawchuk; his brother Wayne (Peggy) Grandysh; his sister Valerie (Brant) Podlowski; and nephews Colin (Marko), Kurtis, and nieces Carly (Dave), Katelyn (Brett), and great-niece Alyse.

He was predeceased by his father Frank Grandysh and his mother Anne Grandysh.

Rest in peace, Ernie.
