Mary Bompas
Mary Annette Bompas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on April 9, 1948, in Treviso, Italy, Mary lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and a deep, unwavering love for her family and friends.
Mary will be remembered most for her love of her family and her nurturing spirit. She lived with enthusiasm and embraced life fully. Her charisma, warmth, and loyalty gifted her with friendships that spanned more than 60 years. As the matriarch of her family, she was the heart of every gathering. Holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries were always celebrated in her home.
Throughout her life, Mary found joy in her family, her career, and her many hobbies. She loved traveling, attending dinner theatre and musical performances, golfing, and stopping in at the local casino all with her best friend, partner and be-loved husband, Stephen. Whether gardening, sharing a coffee, or watching her great-grandsons play hockey, she approached every moment with heart and intention.
Mary is survived by her husband, Stephen Bompas; her daughters, Carrie-Ann Arbour and Kristina Buchanan (Don Holmes); her grandchildren, Amanda Arbour (David Martins) and Taner Arbour (Kurstyn Arbour); and her great-grandsons, Liam and Remy Martins. She is also survived by her sisters, Laura Unteriner (Jim Unteriner) and Manella Leahy (Brian Leahy), and her brother, Terry Borin (Carol Borin). She was predeceased by her sister, Gaby Lane; her brother, Ron Borin; and her parents, Carlo and Teresa Borin. She leaves behind many cousins and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.
Though words can never fully capture the depth of our loss, we take comfort in knowing that Mary’s love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

I worked with Mary for many years. She was intelligent and hard working. I remember she had issues with pain in her hands but she got cortisone shots and kept working.
She was also gentle and kind and well liked by her co-workers. It is funny the things that stick in your head – I remember she always had a sign that said “grow your own dope, plant a man” Not sure if that was aimed at her male boss (me) or at Stephen. Doesn’t matter, I liked the joke.
She was one of the good ones. My condolences on your loss to all her family.

I; had been out of town helping a family member in need and only became aware of Mary’s passing and Funeral a few days after my return home. Mary’s love, devotion and loyalty to her family was beyond special and undeniable ! May you through your immense grief and sadness also experience that wherever a Beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories , laughs, joy and Love in the present and to cherish and carry you through to the many coming years ahead.
