Daniel John Matheson

Daniel John Matheson, 69, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of those whose lives he touched so deeply.

Dan was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on September 18, 1956. He loved life fully and fearlessly, never afraid to take risks or follow his own path. At 19, he moved west with his best and lifelong friends, Tony and Mark. Though he briefly attended university, Dan quickly realized his future would be built through hard work, determination, and an entrepreneurial spirit. With a background in pharmaceutical and industrial solvent sales, he founded DM Supplies and later had the joy of bringing his sons, Kevin John Matheson and Timothy Ross Matheson into the business.

Dan will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and the many passions that brought him joy, including touring on his Harley Davidsons (yes, more than one), fishing, camping, and later travelling abroad. He embraced the open road, the outdoors, and every opportunity to make lasting memories with the people he loved.

Above all, Dan loved unconditionally, with loyalty, strength, and generosity.  His family was profoundly blessed to share in his life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Angela; his children, Timothy and wife Jessica, and Kevin and wife Daniela; his precious grandchildren, Jackson and Julianna Rose; his father, Joel, and wife Judy; his sister, Diana; and his brother, Timothy.

Dan was predeceased by his loving mother, Meriam Ruth Matheson (née McRoberts), whose battle with ATTR Amyloidosis helped lead to Dan’s own diagnosis. With courage and selflessness, Dan supported research toward a cure for this hereditary disease by participating in drug trials for the benefit of his family and others facing the same diagnosis. His family is deeply grateful to him, and to the pharmaceutical companies whose innovations gave Dan more years of life he loved so well.
