April Lynn Sutherland

She was an April Fools' Day baby, so perhaps that's how she managed to remain a wiseacre until the very end. The last words April's niece heard her say after the stroke were "I'll have an Americano." She kept friends and family entertained with tales of endless mishaps from The Land of April, though if she started a sentence with "Would you believe--?" she was probably making things up. She just wanted to know if you'd believe it.

April was the last child born to Harry and Madge Sutherland, who raised their family in Brancepeth (a hamlet near Birch Hills, Saskatchewan) before they moved to Prince Albert.

April went on to:
-join the carnival
-run a balloon decor business
-knit up a storm
-study ceramics at SIAST
-work at an art gallery
-tow a travel trailer with a Ford F150 known as "The Princess"

She eventually settled in a double wide mobile home in Drayton Valley, Alberta and grew far too many petunias.

She was pre-deceased by her brother Jim, and survived by her cats Gater and Bro, her sisters Joan and Diana, her daughter Bente and her granddaughter Angela.

April is pictured dying a t-shirt with the red mud of Prince Edward Island. Mud-dyed shirts were featured at a PEI gift shop, but she figured she could do it cheaper herself, and so she did, in classic April style.
