Aubrey Geis
Aubrey Geis, 81, of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away on September 19, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Aubrey was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, to Denise and Felix Geis. After moving to Edmonton with his parents and sisters, Rita and Yvette, he maintained strong ties to his extended family in Saskatchewan throughout his life.
A devoted family man, Aubrey treasured time spent with his two daughters, Ashley and Barbara, his son, Jason, and his many close friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent at the cabin he built at Baptiste Lake, where family and friends gathered to create lasting memories.
Beyond his dedication to family and friends, Aubrey was deeply committed to serving his community. He gave generously of his time and talents through public service, serving as President of the Edmonton Chapter of the Merit Contractors Association of Alberta, President of the Belmead Community League, and, for many years, Mayor of the Summer Village of Sunset Beach.
Aubrey's commitment, determination, and strong work ethic were evident in everything he undertook. These qualities were exemplified by the fact that he maintained his designation as a Master Electrician until the age of 78. He remained active in floor curling and the C.O.L.D. Respiratory Problems Club of Alberta until the final months of his life.
Aubrey is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Rita and Yvette (Jim); his long-time partner, Eloise; his children, Ashley (Matt), Barbara (Dean), and Jason; the mother of his children, Stella; and the many relatives and friends whose lives he touched.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to others, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who knew him.

To Uncle Aubrey and everyone who loved him,
It’s a rare thing to have a best friend from elementary all the way to your 80s. The friendship you and dad had was truely special. And I’m grateful to have gained you as my Godfather because of it. Thank you for all the special lake memories growing up and all the electrical help as I became an adult!
There are so many of us who will miss you deeply down here uncle. But I know my mom, and so many others are waiting to embrace you with loving arms up there. I bet a certain Bear is waiting for you too <3
Love you uncle! Rest easy.
All of our deepest love and condolences to Barbara, Jason, Ashley, Eloise, Rita, Yvette, auntie Stella and all the rest of uncle Aubrey’s family and friends.
Love, Stephanie Rivera (William, Jacob and Julianna too)
P.S…dad doesn’t understand computers. But he sends his condolences and you know he’s been praying non stop and will miss you so much.
My thoughts & prayers are with the Geis families ,Eloise & all Aubrey’s friends at this time. I met Aubrey over coffee about 15years ago. It turned out to me very great friendship full of laughs & kindness. He enjoyed teasing me and giving me a hard time.He never assisted to help me when necessary. That is the definition of a real friendship. ❤️
I met Aubrey through my mom Sheila and step father Eugene. He is probably the kindest soul I have ever met. There was something about the peacefulness he brought with him. He was always so kind. I am so sorry for this great loss of a wonderful human. What a wonderful legacy to leave behind ❤️
My condolences to Aubrey’s family on the loss. He will be missed by so many. Over the years we often lose track of friends and family. Our busy lives get in the way and sometimes we we move away. Over the years , at weddings, anniversaries and funerals, we often got to reconnect with Aubrey. Most recently Aubrey drove from Edmonton to Regina to attend a family funeral. It was always an opportunity to reconnect with family and friends and Aubrey was often there. Family was very important to him. I can still hear his voice, laughter and see his warm smile. We will all miss him a lot! God Bless
