Beverly Elaine Holmes

After a courageous battle with cancer, our beloved GG passed away at 95 years of age.

Beverly was the eldest of four children (Dorothy, Phyllis, Joseph) born to Joseph and Palma Larson of Mabel, Minnesota. She attended Luther College and it was there that she met her husband, Ralph (Lee) Holmes, who predeceased her. They were married in 1953 and started a family the following year. Bev and Lee went on to have rewarding careers and in 1969, the family moved to Canada where Lee joined the Edmonton Public School Board and Bev taught business ed classes at Jasper Place Composite High School until her retirement. Many students benefited from her genuine warmth and encouraging manner.

In retirement, Bev and Lee enjoyed fishing, playing bridge and making wonderful memories with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bev was always ready for an impromptu shopping trip, a dog walk or other outings and would never miss a Christmas concert, play or sports event. She dearly loved her grand-dogs and regularly shared her dinner with them at weekly family suppers. She enjoyed summer visits from her brother Joe, his wife Deanna and her nephew Paul. This spring, she also met her youngest great-grandson, Levi, for the first time and enjoyed watching all the children playing together.

She is survived by her sons Stephen (Brenda), David, Jon, grandson Sean (Jaclyn), granddaughter Jennifer (Cory) and great-grandchildren, Sydney, Zoe, Finn, Raya and Levi. Her legacy of love and caring will live on through everyone whose lives she touched.
