Together with her spouse Harold, she lived on the East Prairie Metis Settlement, where they constructed a log home with assistance from family members. She frequently spent time at the High Prairie Sports Palace due to her children's involvement in hockey. In later years, she attended her grandchildren's soccer games.

Darlene enjoyed her husband’s country music band, along with the bandmates’ wives, making lasting friends. Mom and Dad had many get-togethers playing cards with their best friends Yvonne and Kenneth with Stella and Dennis. She always kept a large garden, loved having horses on her farm and Mom’s favourite show, Heartland, was always on.

Mom was a creative person who loved sewing, drawing, painting, ceramics, macrame, and decorating her home. Some of her talents lead her to run both an upholstery and a ceramics business, as well as hold various government jobs.

Thank you to the staff at AgeCare Miller Crossing for your compassion and kindness to our mother over the past eight months.

Join us as we honour and remember our mother. Her favorite colour was teal, and those who wish to pay tribute to her are invited to wear teal in her honour.
