Helen Margery (Crawford) Gallagher

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Helen Margery Gallagher, born May 15, 1928 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on January 29, 2021 in Edmonton, Alberta.

She will be lovingly remembered by numerous family members and friends. She was predeceased by her partner Laverne Clark, her parents George & Pearl Crawford, and her sisters Joycelyn and Bernice. Helen made her home in various places in Canada.

She loved travelling the east coasts of Canada and the United States when she lived in Quebec. She also enjoyed living in Kelowna, but she returned to her roots when she returned to Cold Lake. One of her greatest joys was working with Laverne at Clark’s General Store in Cold Lake. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Cold Lake Hospital and took great pride in helping others.

Helen expressed her love of music by singing and playing her accordion and organ. Helen’s music has ended but her melody will linger on in her family and friends.

She spent the last ten years of her life at the Lifestyle Options Assisted Living Centre in Leduc. She often commented that the residents and staff became her second family.

Helen has been cremated and will be placed in Glenwood Memorial Gardens where many of her family members are.

A Celebration of Life is planned for the future.

  1. So sorry to see in our Cold Lake Sun newspaper, that Helen had passed away. I worked at Cold Lake Hospital, so I first met her there when she was volunteering and we later became friends. I have such good memories of Helen and we had many good laughs. I was fortunate to meet both of her sisters and her niece Katherine and her husband Ken. My condolences to your family and so sorry that only in November that Joyce had passed away. So sorry for your losses of 2 beautiful ladies.

    Marlene and Richard Welsh
