John "Jack" Osland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 76.

Raised in Edmonton, Jack was a natural athlete, ski instructor, and skilled craftsman who dedicated over 45 years to a successful career in the propane industry, eventually serving as General Manager of Mutual Propane Ltd. Beyond his professional achievements, Jack was defined by his drive and determination, love of the outdoors, and deep devotion to family—from coaching youth hockey, cheering his daughters at the pool, and sharing winter ski trips to spending memorable summers with loved ones at Lake Okanagan in British Columbia.

Jack leaves behind a lasting legacy of love in his four children—Ceilidh (Brad), Corey (Robyn), Jacqueline (Ben), and Jonathan (Richelle)—his seven cherished grandchildren (Ryley, Jack, Ayrton, Frieda, Charlize, Winston, and Dylan), and his partner, Dawn.

A private family memorial and celebration of life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory may be made to the Greater Edmonton Foundation (GEF Seniors Housing) in gratitude for their outstanding care: https://gef.org/.

  1. So sorry for all of you kids. Jackie, Jonathan, Corey and Ceilidh. It was an honour being involved with Jack for many years and being part of all of your lives. Rest in Peace Jack❤️

  2. Jack was a great man! I had the privilege of knowing him for many years and cherish many memories of him! He will be greatly missed and loved forever!

  3. I am so sorry for your family. We spent many years together as small children, our parents hanging out and for sure not drinking too much beer! I have such fond memories of both your Mom and Dad, we had a lot of fun with the lax parenting style common back then! Peace to you and your families, may his memory be a blessing.

  4. My deepest condolences to Jack’s family and loved ones. Jack was a great neighbour, a great friend, and, most importantly, a wonderful dad to his kids. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

  5. Very sad day for the Propane Industry and all who knew this great man. I have some very fond memories of Jack and he will be missed dearly. My heart and prays go out to the Osland family. Gone but never forgotten!

  6. Ceilidh, Jackie, Corey and Jonathan, My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I am so sorry for your loss. I know Jack will always hold a special place in your hearts.
