It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Anthony Hihn (83 years old). Joe is predeceased by his parents (George & Anna) and his wife Amelia of 45 years, his two sisters, Leona and Marcella, and his brother Elmer. Joe is survived by his sister Matilda (Mike) and many nieces and nephews.

Joe grew up on the family farm in Spring Lake, Alberta and he had a great admiration for farmers. He enjoyed his flower and vegetable gardens all his life. He is most proud of his working career with John Deere and later opened his own business, Prairie Farm.

Joe was very active in his church and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a tireless volunteer and donated to many charities, his whole life. Joe and Amelia travelled extensively and he spent many years researching family genealogy.

Joe was a keen sports fan. His favourite teams were the Oilers, Elks and New York Yankees. Joe was an avid reader and followed news, sports and politics very closely.

He is at peace with his wife Amelia in heaven.

  1. Many good memories from our younger years at St Leo school as well as community and church gatherings. Rest In Piece Joe. You cousin Jean Arsenault,

  2. So many memories of our walking to school together or riding the bus to Heisler School. Also our skating rink fun at our evening school parties. May you now live in God’s eternal love Joe. Your cousin Sister Florence Jacobs

  3. Our sincere condolence to Matilda, Mike & all nieces & nephews.
We enjoyed Joe’s visit to Ontario as a child on Anthony & Pauline Steffler’s farm near Formosa, and then later when he travelled with his wife Amelia to visit with Mom & Dad. We had many meals and laughter together.
    Rest in Peace Joe.
    Sincerely
    Carl & Lorraine
