Joseph (Joey) Furtado
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joseph (Joey) Furtado on November 26, 2023, at the young age of 48 years old. He was born on August 8, 1975 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Joey worked as a labourer for many years with various companies, with his last project being with Bird Construction.
His greatest accomplishment and life’s devotion was being a proud father to his daughter, Maria. His love for her was bigger than life itself. He was also a proud and loving brother, uncle, godfather and Friend.
Joey was always willing to pull a prank, crack a joke or send a funny message to make you smile and laugh. He loved making people laugh. He was always willing to lend a hand or bring you a coffee if you needed one. He was also a huge Edmonton Oilers Fan and cheered passionately for his favourite soccer team, Portugal. He also loved eating his favourite Portuguese Cuisine.
Joey is survived by his daughter, Maria Jose Louise Furtado; his siblings: Goretti (Brent) Istace, Tony (Mary) Furtado, Anna (Tony) Almeida and Irene Correia; his nephews: Lucas and Nicholas Istace, Marco Furtado and Edwin Correia; his nieces: Karen Ross, Amy Almeida and Cindy Medeiros-Connors; his great-nephews: Ethan, Carter and Gabriel Ross, Logan Caron and Jacob Almeida; his great-nieces: Ciara Connors, Kayla Correia and Zoe Caron.
Joey was predeceased by his parents, Urbano and Maria Jose Furtado (Capitão); his sister, Maria Jose Furtado; his nephews: Kevin Correia and Anthony Almeida; his great-nephew, Marcus Dunning; his brother-in-law, Daniel Correia and his grandparents, Antonio and Maria Irene Furtado (Capitão) and Manuel and Bernadette Rebelo.
Joey will be sadly missed by many friends, co-workers, family and especially by the love of his life, his daughter, Maria.
