Leo Peters

It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Leo Peters, a beloved husband, a devoted father and grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and dear friend.

Everyone who knew Leo felt his generosity and his kindness. His laughter and his wicked sense of humour showed his genuine love of life. His enthusiastic spirit and verve extended even into his work life. He often said he loved every day that he went to work. He took great pride in his 32-year career with Suncor Energy, beginning as a millwright in 1981 and progressing through several leadership positions before becoming a senior manager in the crane department.

Following his retirement in 2013, Leo and Trish traveled extensively. They shared adventures with their children and grandchildren until Trish’s passing in 2017. His family was his heart, his pride and his life. He loved them dearly. Gwynne, his great-granddaughter, was his “little princess,” and the time spent with her brought him endless joy.

In 2020 Leo found love again with Lucy. Leo and Lucy were more than husband and wife—they were best friends who shared a love for adventure and for each other. They enjoyed hiking, biking, swimming, cheering on the Blue Jays and travelling together. Wherever they were, they were happiest simply being together. He also embraced Lucy’s family as his own, welcoming them with open arms and a generous heart. Together, they enriched the lives of all who met them.

Leo expressed his love through generosity, laughter, and the simple joy he brought to those around him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, kindness, humour, adventurous heart, and the great love that he gave so freely.

He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and he will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
