Marek Gatkiewicz

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marek Gatkiewicz, on May 3, 2026, at the age of 76, after a 4-year battle with cancer.

He will be deeply missed by his loving partner, Teresa; his daughters, Agnieszka (Daren) Pullishy and Kasia (Jason) Pfefferle; and his cherished grandchildren, Alexandra, Evan, Arika, Logan, and Jaxon. He will also be fondly remembered by Teresa’s children and grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends. Marek was predeceased by his wife, Jadwiga.

Marek was born in Poland on January 20, 1950. Seeking a better life for his family, they eventually emigrated and settled in Edmonton, Canada, in 1982. His life was filled with love and laughter shared with family and friends, alongside a career as a millwright that took him to many unique places in the world.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Edmonton Cross Cancer Clinic and the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Also, to the many friends who offered support through this difficult journey, thank you for bringing joy and comfort to us all.
