Oliver Schoeninger

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Oliver Schoeninger, a much-loved son, brother, uncle, and friend.

Oliver was born on October 6, 1965, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, and immigrated with his family to Alberta in 1975, where he would make his home and build his life.

In 1989, Oliver began working for Ackland's-Grainger, where he remained a loyal and dedicated employee for over 35 years. Over those years, he built friendships and became a familiar face to many.

Oliver will be remembered for his goofy, gentle, and easygoing nature. He loved a good conversation and could happily talk about anything—although the price of gas was always good for a discussion. He had a natural way of making people comfortable, and those who knew him will remember his humour, contagious laughter, his stories, and the simple pleasure he took in sitting down and having a good meal and conversation.

Among the friendships Oliver treasured was his lifelong friendship with Andre Desharnais, a friendship that remained an important part of his life through the years.

Oliver will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Marlies Schoeninger; his sisters, Peggy Bakken and Jenny Schoeninger Mansfield(Peter); his brothers, Mike Millin and Patrick Schoeninger; as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family in Germany, friends, coworkers, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

He was predeceased by his father, Guenter Schoeninger, in 2022, and his brother, Marco Schoeninger, in 2019.

Oliver's absence will be deeply felt, but he leaves behind many years of stories, laughter, conversations, and memories that will continue to be shared by the people who loved him.

He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
