William Kauffeldt
William “Bill” Kauffeldt
February 9, 1941 – December 25, 2025
On Christmas Day, Bill was called home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was so active in his community until his passing, loving well all those that God placed in his path.
Bill was born and spent much of his life in Arnprior, ON. He married his high school sweetheart, Judy, in 1964. Always looking for ways to serve others, Bill was active in First Baptist Church, served on Arnprior Town Council for many years, and taught and coached track & field at ADHS. His biggest passion for 30 years was serving as Camp Director each summer at Bonnnechere Baptist Camp. The number of friendships made and lives influenced during those decades is too numerous to count. After Judy’s passing in 1983, Bill married Rhea in 1985 and upon retirement from teaching, became a Regional Minister with the North American Baptist Conference, serving pastors in the Eastern Association. Bill enjoyed this second career immensely and the many connections he forged with others whose hearts were committed to sharing God’s love with others.
When Bill retired a second time, he spent many years travelling between Ontario, Alberta and Florida, spending time with his kids and grandkids, before moving to Edmonton permanently in 2015. Bill quickly made Edmonton “home”, and his life was filled spending time with his kids, watching his grandkids play volleyball and hockey, serving faithfully at Terwillegar Community Church, and being a faithful friend to many.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his children, Todd & Katherine Kauffeldt, Patti & Nathan Kern, Brad & Melissa Blyth; his grandchildren Jacob (Kenna), Jack, Cam, Cole (Becky), Kendra (Caleb), Lauren (Logan) and Natalie (Gavin); and his sister and brother-in-law Sheryl & Ron Hanniman.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Judy in 1983, his wife Rhea in 2015, his brother Wayne (Laura) in 2020 and his stepson Jeff in 2024.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, January 9 at 2:00 pm at Terwillegar Community Church (1751 Towne Centre Blvd NW, Edmonton). The service will also be livestreamed on the Terwillegar Community Church YouTube channel.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Bill’s memory may make them to Bonnechere Baptist Camp (e-transfer to bonnecherebaptistcamp.finance@gmail.com), Hope Mission in Edmonton or Refugee Bridge (through Terwillegar Community Church).
Bill’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the U of A Hospital for the exceptional care and kindness given to Bill and the family during a very difficult time.
