Daisy Lahaie-Schoen
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Daisy Lahaie-Schoen on July 14, 2025 at the age of 96.
She is survived by six children: Fred (Mona), Cynthia (Darcy), Lorine (Dieter), Daniel (Elaine), Andrew (Leigh) and Jeff (Shawn); eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Freddie her daughter, Anne-Marie and her second husband Al.
Daisy was always a little spitfire, with a zest for life that growing old did not diminish. Her greatest treasure and pride was being the mother and grandmother to an ever-expanding family, starting with her own seven children. She was a loving wife and supermom, baking bread, sewing clothes, cooking and baking, planning camping trips, she did it all. She loved babies and with every announcement of new grandchildren, great, even great great, she would beam and celebrate. She was also proud of her banking career, a champion at balancing the books, first with the Royal bank, then later with Northlands racetrack. Daisy loved to travel, having been to Europe several times, Hawaii, Alaska, Japan, South America, Mexico, and many happy years wintering in Scottsdale. She was lucky enough to find love twice, first with her beloved Freddie, whom she met at age 15. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 54. At age 70 she met and married widower Al Schoen and they successfully navigated the highs and lows of growing old together. Her strong Catholic faith always kept her going when times got tough and reaffirmed her beliefs when times were good. She will be missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will carry on in her family. Rest in peace Daisy/Mom/Nana.
We would like to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care Mom received at her home for the past ten plus years, Glastonbury Mews, as she navigated through the levels of care there. The nurses, staff, and Doctor Afshar have our sincere gratitude for their ability to make residents feel like they are home and safe and well looked after.
A celebration of life will take place at a future date.
Condolences to the Lahaie family, especially Jeff, Shawn and kids. May loving memories comfort your hearts 💕
