Lorna Shelley April Sleen
August 01, 1969 - October 10, 2026
Lorna lived a hard life but was the light for many people. Unfortunatly her light unexpectedly went out early leaving; her Daughter, Melinda; her Son in Law, Ryan; her grand children, Sadin, Kadin, Mina, Justine, Serenity, Calvin; her Brother, Allan; Her sisters, Lena and Linda; and countless friends lives.
Lorna was pre-deseased by; her Daughter, Sarah; her Brother, Dell; her parents, Allan and Shirley
Lorna was born in Edmonton, Alberta and lived in Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario throughout her life. She touched many people with her laugh and positive outlook on life. Lorna loved to live free, not tied down to any person or place in particular. She had many animals througout her life, most recently were two cats that she loved dearly, Mittens and Nibbler. Prior to her death Lorna was part of a womens group touring different edmonton locations and meeting for teas and coffee. She was enjoying bingo and was exploring new and exciting things to spend her time on. Lorna was preparing for a bigger better life, she stopped drinking, was studdying for her learners, and was looking for a new place to live closer to her grandchildren.
Lorna thought hard about what kind of care she wanted if she got very sick, her biggest worries were her daughter caring for her if she couldnt care for herself and her grandchildren greiving her loss. She did not want machines to keep her alive and did not want more harm done to her body to be kept alive. "I dont want anyone poking and prodding me!" She chose when it was time to come off of the oxygen, when to stop taking the medicine and when to go to sleep for the final time. She passed in no pain or discomfort knowing that her family was going to be okay. Because of these final decisions of not wanting to be altered or changed she has not been embalmed and has already been creamated prior to her celebration of life. In the months prior Melinda spoke to Lorna about if she had any wants or wishes prior to passing, she did not want to add anything to a bucket list and didnt wish for anything. Lorna passed at the University of Alberta hospital in Edmonton.
