Blaine Malcolm Alexander
November 7, 1948 – July 24, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Blaine Malcolm Alexander on July 24, 2025 at the age of 76.

Blaine was born on November 7, 1948, in Vermillion, Alberta and was raised in Wainwright and the nearby farming community of Battleview. A kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Blaine was known for his warmth, wit, and a droll sense of humour. He brought laughter (and eye rolls) wherever he went and was a steady presence to those around him.

Blaine worked in Economic Development before serving as the Town Manager of Fox Creek and moving to Edmonton to continue his career as Manager of Municipal Legislation for Alberta Municipal Affairs. He was passionate about public service and remained engaged in his community leading him to participate as a member of the Strathcona Environmental Advisory Committee.

With an interest in history and political science, Blaine was an avid reader and conversationalist. He found joy in live music, the theatre, and was always happy strumming the guitar. He enjoyed camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends telling tales of his days growing up on the farm.

Blaine was predeceased by his father Lewis Alexander, mother Winnifred Alexander and sister Sharon Mclean. Blaine will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Donna; daughters Jessica (Paul) and Kimberley (Robert) and granddaughter Sarah. He is also survived by his brothers, Albert and David as well as his nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Cross Cancer Institute who took great care of Blaine. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute of Alberta.

A celebration of Life will be held on September 6 from 1 - 4 at Grace United Church in Wainwright, Alberta.

  1. Donna and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Blaine was a good friend and Cathy and I are so glad we had the opportunity to get to know him over all these years. You described Blaine to a tee, that’s exactly what he was like. We miss him already. Our deepest sympathies to you all.
