Virginia Pearl MacComish
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Virginia (Ginny) Pearl MacComish, who left us on December 2, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by loved ones in Edmonton, Alberta.
Born on May 11, 1941, on Whitecap Dakota First Nation, Saskatchewan, Virginia was the eldest of eight cherished children of Flossie (Bear) and Harry Buffalo.
Virginia dedicated her life to family, friends, and her church community. From the very beginning, she carried a spirit of the kindness, resilience, joy, and faith in God, that would come to define her life. She found joy in crossword puzzles, TV game shows, watching curling, soap operas, and was a loyal supporter of the Edmonton Oilers, and Saskatchewan Roughriders. Her devotion to her faith guided her, and was shown in her commitment to many of her church committees. She spent her career, as a Licensed Practical Nurse, helping others, and had a reputation of being a very kind, caring nurse. Virginia’s kindness made everyone feel valued, and her smile, and laughter, will be fondly remembered, as well as her quick little jokes that made everyone laugh, even when they didn’t feel like smiling.
Above all, Virginia cherished her children; Kevin (Edna) Buffalo, Karen (John) McGrath and Kelvin (Stephanie) MacComish; grandchildren, Jonas, Tanisha, Janelle, Stephen, Jasmine, Bret, Emily, Julia, Preya, Isaac, Owen, Arden, Ashlynn, Kevin Jr., and Dakota; great grandchildren, Greyson, Cassius, Ambrosia, Beau, and Alaysia; as well as extended grandchildren, Robert, Shannon, Priscilla, Eli, and Phoenix.
Virginia offered unwavering love and support, while also teaching those around her the importance of love and family, through both words, and by example.
Virginia is predeceased by her parents Harry & Flossie (Bird) Buffalo, brother Fred Buffalo, sisters Audrey Buffalo & Velma Bird, as well as her late ex-husband George MacComish. Also leaving to mourn are her brothers, Gene, Glen, and Warren Buffalo; sisters, Mavis Olson and Wanda Jane Down; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
