Valerie let out her last breath just past midnight on 11-February-2026.

Val was a lover of life - she loved to laugh, dance, make wonderful food to share; she loved doing puzzles, burnt crusts on her toast and helping others both friends and strangers alike.

Val loved country music, family and, of course, Ronnie - her long time partner.

Val was organized, strong willed and - yes ... just stubborn enough. She really was the definition of "friend".

Val passed at home surrounded by friends and family, just as she had planned!

She was pre-deceased by her love Ronnie Milbrath, siblings Yvonne, Myrna, Loretta and Gerald as well as grandchildren Camden, Linden and Judy.

She has left behind a veritable ocean of friends and admirers.

We will all miss her infectious zest for life and irresistible smile.

Thanks for the wonderful times dear dear Friend.

  1. I first got to know

I first got to know Val when I married her youngest sister Loretta. She was a doting big sister and her kindness and generosity was passed on to our children – Patrick, Renee and Jason – who grieve her passing and will always hold her dear in their hearts. Val may have left Winnipeg many years ago but her family and many friends were here so she often flew or motored back to us for one of her whirlwind visits. We all enjoyed meeting her Ron and seeing in person how happy they were together. Val was a strong willed person ( just like her Mom) and endured the passing of her father Frank, brother Gerald, mother Jeane, sister Loretta and sister Myrna and many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces that she held so dear. Those of us who remain from her extended family and friends in Manitoba and beyond, join with her Alberta family and friends in wishing her eternal happiness and comfort. What a great Gal she was!

  2. My name is Deborah. I was and am Vals daughter in law. I was there when she took her last breath. I am not sad but happy that you are now with your sole mate Ron. I love you Val ..even though you did not like me telling you that ..both Camdon and I will always love you!!!!

  3. Valerie was a beautiful soul. We were friends for over 20 years. Valerie
was so comfortable to be around. Never did I hear her make any egotistical or cutting comments. We had numerous lunches together and went to some concerts. One of her favourites was Buddy Holly. One of our luncheons was memorable. Val needed to pick up new glasses prior to lunch. Because she was wearing old glasses, she took a nasty fall onto some dirt and gravel. She skinned both knees, ruined her clothes and had a deep gash on one palm. She went home, cleaned up, put heavy bandages on her injured hand, and showed up for lunch!
It was easy to see why Valerie had such a large collection of loyal friends. She had a knack for knowing what her friends and acquaintances needed for support and offered it immediately. If you did a favour for Val, she returned it ten-fold.
I miss your presence in my life, dear friend!
    Judy Michiel
