Carl William Whittle
With sadness in our hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Carl William Whittle on March 1st, 2026 in St Albert, AB at the age of 88. Born on February 7th, 1938 in Calgary, AB he was the son of Henry and Henrietta.
He was predeceased by his parents and his loving wife of 50 years, Darlene. Carl is survived by his daughter Brenda (Steve) Bell, grandson Lane, stepson Len (Shelley) Moodie, stepdaughter Kathy (Paul) Hannin and step-grandchildren Kenny (Brittany), Randy (Sylvia), Ashley, Chase, Rylee and niece and nephew Cynthia and Daniel.
Carl spent his life in Alberta. Carmangay was a special place with fond memories that he spoke of often. He played hard in his life but, worked even harder. He worked on the rigs throughout Alberta, travelled selling bits, bartended and worked in two steel yards in Calgary for over 35 years before retiring. Carl enjoyed camping with family, especially at the cabin, puttering in the garage, building things like birdhouses, walking his pups Mouse, then Scotty and he loved to tell his stories of the good old days. If you ever met Carl you definitely heard those stories, probably many times.
Special thank you to Uncle Jack for your friendship and all the calls to check in and chat with him. Rob and Maggie, friends that became family, your visits in Calgary, then St. Albert, meant a lot to him. His special friends from his Ironwood residence in St. Albert, Maureen and Jim and all the others he shared that home with the last 4 years.
As requested by Carl, there will not be a service. Please remember him in your own way to honor his memory. He will be laid to rest in Queens Park Cemetery in Calgary, AB, reuniting with his wife Darlene.
Gone Never Forgotten
Quote from his daughter Brenda,
I know you loved me as long as I lived but, I loved you my whole life.
