George Batt

March 9, 1949 – March 24, 2017

George was a charismatic, one-of-a-kind, incredible man who devoted his life to helping those around him. Surrounded by his loving family at home, George left this earth peacefully to meet his Lord and Savior.

Left to honour George’s memory is his beloved wife and best friend of 44 years, Lily (Veness); sons: Curtis (Karen Abellar) & Stephen; daughter Monica (Deny Ouimet); grandchildren: Javis, Daisy, Damien and Julia as well as extended family and numerous friends.

George was predeceased by his parents, Alexander Batt & Maria Bauer; in-laws: William & Lilly Veness; brothers: Victor, Jacob (Inez) & Edward; sisters: Katie (Alex), Emma (Ludwig) & Lydia (Mike); nephews: Daniel Batt & Dwight Mclellan; niece Kaitlyn Robins and brother-in-law Gary Scott.

Many people supported George in his 10 year journey with cancer, and the family expresses gratitude to all. Special thanks to family physician Dr. A Mokrzanowski, everyone he connected with at the Cross Cancer Institute, especially Dr. Severin and Dr. Mulder, alternative practitioner Inge Knott, and to his compassionate home care team including Jocelyn Mugleston, Cecile Flynn, Marianne Abellar, Gwen, Lilia, Theresa, Wafa and physician, Dr. R.T. Barton.
