James David Evjen
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James David Evjen on Friday January 10th, 2020 at the age of 55 years.
James was born in Beaverlodge, Alberta and moved to Sherwood Park at a young age. He lived and worked in Edmonton all of his adult life.
James loved sports. He was a dedicated Oilers fan and his involvement with the Sherwood Park Mixed Slo Pitch Ball League spanned more than two decades, as a player and in various leadership roles.
He will be remembered for his unique wit and sense of humor. It was appreciated by family, friends and co-workers alike. He enjoyed making us laugh.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife Nathalie Hammond, parents John and Helen Evjen, brother Rick, sister Charlotte (Mike), nieces Erika (Luke) and Kalli (Evan), nephews Jarvin (Alicia), Thomas and Lucas, great nieces Annya & Aubrey and Uncle Art (Judy). Also, his mother and father-in-law, Michelle & Wilfred Hammond, brother-in-law Craig, sister-in-law Vicki Lefebvre (Daniel) and their sons Cadam & Mckale . And by numerous cousins, extended family, co-workers, and his second family at Sherwood Park Mixed Slo Pitch, especially the Nightmare team.
Our family wishes to express our gratitude for the compassionate care James received during his time at Sturgeon Community Hospital. Thank you to the staff at Stations 17 and 18.
A celebration of James life will be held in the spring. If desired, donations may be made in memory of James and his love for his fur babies to Edmonton Humane Society, 13620 – 163 St., Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2 www.edmontonhumanesociety.com or the charity of your choice.
On behalf of the entire Sherwood Park Mixed League Executive and all of the teams, our hearts and thoughts remain with you as you mourn. James was an integral part in making the league the success that it is today. He was not only a mentor, teammate, opponent and colleague but most importantly he was a friend. He will definitely be missed but not forgotten.

Rest In Peace Jamie it was a pleasure to be your friend , opponent for many years on the ball field in SHPk or the wood bat tourney in Jasper . You’re tireless efforts will be sorely missed by many as it was an absolute pleasure to be involved with the league executive with you and the rest of the team . In the spring pal I will come have a beverage with you on your bench at Centennial park and we can talk about all the great things you did for everyone for many years . Your passion for the game and life were contagious, you will be truly missed by all .
