It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved Adaliane passed away peacefully at home in Edmonton, on March 9, 2023, with family by her side.

Her love, guidance, and strength have been an inspiration to us all.

She was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend of 47 years, Donald McLean Bethune, in 1996, and by their son, Scott Donald Bethune, in 2013.

Adaliane will be profoundly missed by her two surviving children: Bonnie (Daniel) Magnan and Heather Bethune (Wayne Gaydos); three  grandchildren: Michelle (Cameron) McIvor, Tamara (Josh) Becker; Brent Magnan; four great-grandchildren: Sophia and Norah Becker, Hudson and Marlowe McIvor; four siblings: Roy (Marlene d.) Lindberg, Ron (Marlowe) Lindberg, Joy (Bill) Hibbard, Judy (Bill d.) Olson; sister-in-law, Pauline (Tom d.) Bethune; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in Wainwright and Edmonton.

Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to another charity.

Many thanks to all of Adaliane’s medical providers and caregivers in Edmonton and in Wainwright, over the past eight years.

An intimate Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  1. It was with great sadness to hear of Ada’s passing. She was probably the classiest lady that I ever met and had the opportunity to do work for! Our sincerest condolences.

    • Hello, Bryce and Linda!

Thank you very much for your very special note! (which I read, right away, but wasn’t sure about the correct way to reply to you!)

We appreciate your condolences and for sharing your thoughts with us on Mom.

We’re doing well and are wishing you well, too.

      Bonnie (and Dan) Magnan 💕

  2. Bonnie, Dan & Family and Heather, my deepest sympathy to you on the passing of your mother. I so remember your mom and what an elegant and cheerful person she always was. It made my day when she would come into Thorp’s Drug Store where I worked. May all your memories bring a smile when the days are sad! Sending many hugs your way.

    • Beautiful message! Thank you, Caroline!

We appreciate the hugs and sweet words.

      Wishing you well.

      Bonnie (and Dan) Magnan

  3. I was saddened to hear of Ada’s passing. In September I visited her and Heather at Chartwell – grateful I made that trip. We had many great times together at out summer cabins. She was a lovely, fun person who will be missed by many. Sending our condolences from the Elder family.

    • Thank you very much, Lil and family!

Yes, lots of fond, special memories that our families share!
We’re so glad that you visited Mom and that you two kept in touch.

Sending best wishes to all of you, too.

      Bonnie
