Bruce Alexander Pylatuk
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dear brother, Bruce Pylatuk, who passed away at the age of 59.
Bruce was a man of quiet strength, gentle wisdom and determination. He spent the majority of his life battling a rare disease with grace, strength and unwavering courage. Despite the many trials of his illness, Bruce continued to live life with purpose, compassion and dignity.
Known for his love of travel, Bruce did not let his limitations define him. He enjoyed traveling with his long-time friend and companion, Helen. They shared many special moments and memories throughout their travels, with Hawaii being his favorite place to be.
Bruce was a committed employee of C.N.I.B., where he worked to support those with visual impairments. As someone who was visually impaired himself, Bruce not only brought professional dedication to his work, but also a personal understanding and empathy towards his clients, which earned him an award as ”The Client Whisperer”.
Bruce is survived by his sisters Sharon and Jane, nephews and nieces, Joey, Alana, Krissy and Josh.
He is predeceased by his loving parents Alex and Marlene, sister Jill, stepdad Don and his beloved dog Chuck.
He will be deeply missed by his family, C.N.I.B. colleagues, his longtime companion Helen, and all who were fortunate to call him their friend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
A service will be held on July 4, 2025 at 11:00 am with reception to follow at Hosanna Lutheran Church (9009 163 St NW, Edmonton, AB).
