On the morning of Sunday, May 26th, 2024 – God took Bruce David Elvin back home, after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was only 57 years old.

Bruce was born in Edmonton, Alberta on February 23, 1967. The youngest of 5 children born to Ronald & Adele Elvin, Bruce got himself into a bit of trouble amongst his siblings in typical childhood fashion (Bruce may have been a bit of a rambunctious little boy). But nothing that couldn’t be sorted out with love and patience. He went on to graduate at WP Wagner High School.
He pursued various jobs and became a bit of a jack of all trades (everything from meat cutting, cooking, and botanist). He finally found his niche in building maintenance, and excelled for years at remodeling apartment suites and all the work that came along with that. The “being on call” & getting woken up at 3 in the morning wasn’t something he fancied though.

Bruce met Amy in September 1994. He was her “boss” at Newman Theological College as they worked together in the kitchen. However, the roles were quickly reversed and Amy became the boss a few short years later when Bruce and Amy married on July 1st, 1999. Amy considers herself very lucky for all the amazing adventures during their 24 years of marriage, including all the travel they were fortunate to do, and adopting their fur baby (cat), Sampson.

Bruce’s departure leaves many of us brokenhearted, especially wife Amy Elvin, father Ronald Elvin (Estela), brother Mark Elvin (Churyl), sister Joanne Vajpey (Mano), sister Christine Elvin (Patrick Ruel), stepfather Gordon McNicol (Carole Sallis), mother-in-law Rosemarie Wifladt, brother-in-law Michael Wifladt, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles

Bruce is predeceased by his mother Adele McNicol and brother Glenn Elvin.

Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at Trinity Funeral Home (10530-116 Street, Edmonton), with Rev. Mark Elvin officiating.
