In Remembrance of "Chuck"

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, August 24th, 1936, of Italian heritage. He was an only child. The Carline family resided in the Rossdale district, below Edmonton's downtown area, alongside the Saskatchewan River; a great playground area for Chuck and his dog Buddy.

The family moved to Vancouver, living there for a few years; returning to Edmonton, they lived in the Oliver district where Chuck attended junior high school. Chuck met Dorothy Burke when they were students at Westglen School, and they became "true high school sweethearts"! They married in 1958 and, in August 2025, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.

Chuck's lifetime career with Edmonton Kenworth Ltd. began in 1958 as a pickup driver for the company. He attained partsman classification. He was transferred to Calgary Kenworth in 1959 and became parts manager. His and Dorothy's sons, Michael and Gregory, were born in Calgary. Chuck transferred back to the west Edmonton branch of Kenworth in 1968 and was parts manager and purchasing manager. He retired in 2003 after working at Kenworth for 46 years.

St. Albert is where Chuck and Dorothy resided and raised their sons when they returned from Calgary. In 2004 they moved to Victoria, BC, and enjoyed island life for 17 years. They moved back to St. Albert in 2021.

Chuck had a lifelong interest in cars, a love of driving them, watching car races, and attending car shows. His great achievement was restoring his 1954 Studebaker Champion and showing it in St. Albert and Edmonton car shows. Son Greg, of Calgary, is now the owner of "the Stude".

A talented handyman, Chuck did exceptional home carpentry and craft woodworking. He took pride in maintaining the family homes and grounds. He enjoyed working on his "Stude", socializing with good buddies, photography, listening to his collection of jazz records, and reading.

Many family holidays were camping trips, including one to Montreal in 1967 to attend Expo. Chuck and Dorothy enjoyed travelling to Tahiti, New Zealand, and Hawaii, and via cruise ships sailed seas to many countries.

Chuck was a loving husband, Dad, and Gramps. He was unassuming, kind, caring, gentle, and a gentleman. He had a wonderfully warm smile, a teasing manner, a great sense of humour, and loved laughing.

Chuck will sadly be missed by his loving family: wife Dorothy (his Dee), sons Michael (Sharon), Greg (Diane), "grandkids" Meaghan (Jeffrey), Genifer (Shayne), Christopher, Morghan (Ian), great-grandchildren Daisy, Hazel, Kazlo, and Frankie, and his friends.
