Darlene Rhoda Cummins

May 8, 2020 5 Condolences Print Obituary Send Flowers

Darlene was born on March 22, 1941 in Sonningdale, Saskatchewan.  She passed away peacefully on May 6, 2020, at her home in Edmonton, Alberta.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bill, her son Darin (Diane), her daughter Karen and her grandchildren Nicholas and Andrea.  She will be missed by many friends and extended family.

Darlene will be remembered for her creativity and attention to details; especially at birthdays, attending her grandchildren’s various performances, and making you feel like family in her home.  She enjoyed her miniature rose garden and always had fresh cut flowers in her house.  She was known for her delicious meals and never returning her friends’ dishes without a treat inside, such as her infamous rhubarb cake.

Cremation and interment have taken place and a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.

Thank you to Doctor Ziyani, Doctor Ko and the Homecare staff (Pod E) for your kindness and compassion.

In memory of Darlene, the family would appreciate, in lieu of flowers, any donations that you may be considering sent to SEESA (South East Edmonton Seniors Association).

  1. We will miss Darlene’s smiling face, warm hugs, and dry sense of humour. She was generous, kind, and caring. Through Darlene’s example, others have learned to be gracious and thoughtful. She kept up to date on politics, sports, and entertainment which made her a real asset playing Trivial Pursuit.

Darlene will forever be at our Grey Cup parties and New Year’s Day dinners in spirit. We will all feel her presence.

Our deepest sympathy goes to Bill, Karen, Darin, Diane, Nicholas, and Andrea.

  2. Our deepest condolences to Bill, Karen, Darin, Diane, Nicholas, and Andrea.

May you always cherish those good times and great memories.

  3. My condolences to you Karen and your family.
May the love of family and friends comfort and strengthen you on the days ahead.

    • Bill and family, I am sorry for your loss. I will always think of Darlene each year the lilac bush blooms and miss our neighbourly conversations over the fence.

  4. Our deepest sympathies to Bill, Darin, Diane, Karen, Nickolas & Andrea. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Darlene will be forever in our hearts. We’ll miss our Birthday celebrations – Darlene always made them so special!! We have so many great memories!! I, Margret, started our relationship as the “babysitter”, later on I started my very first adult job with the help of Bill and as the years went by we enjoyed a most wonderful friendship! I will so miss Darlene’s lovely dinners and telephone calls we had. Hugs!!!
