It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Evelyn Joyce Sherdahl, aged 92 years, at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, on August 19, 2025.

Evelyn was born on June 18, 1933, and raised in Poplar Point, Manitoba. In 1953, she moved to Winnipeg, where she began building her life and family. Following her marriage to Dennis Sherdahl in 1983, she made Edmonton her home.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dennis; her sons, Robert (Debra) and Brent (Darlene); grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, Amber, Michelle, Krystal, Samantha, and Ainsley (Roger); and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Miles. Evelyn is also survived by her sister, Sheila; her stepfamily, Troy (Natalie), Tracy (John, Joel), and Kim; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Art and Jean Tully, first husband, Ira Thomas; her grandson, Ryan Thomas; her sisters, Marlene Thomas and Mabel Tully; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

After retiring from CIBC, Evelyn and Dennis enjoyed many wonderful trips to Rincón de Guayabitos with friends and family. At home, Evelyn loved entertaining and was happiest when preparing delicious meals to share with those she loved.

A family gathering will be held to celebrate Evelyn’s life. She will be layed to rest in the Oakville Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks for the kindness and friendship shown to Evelyn, especially by her dear friends in Edmonton. Special thanks are also extended to the staff at Touchmark at Wedgewood, Bayshore HealthCare, and Misericordia Hospital for their care and support.

Evelyn—“Evie” to many—will be deeply missed.
