Frances Mary Hite
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Mary Hite at the age of 101.
Frances passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family, at Devonshire Seniors Community Care Center in Edmonton, AB on the sunny afternoon of Monday, March 9th, 2026.
Frances was born in the farmhouse on the homestead in the Pelican school district, north of Edgerton on October 11, 1924. Frances enjoyed growing up on the farm with her two sisters, Edith and Helen, playing ball, riding her favorite horse Mildred and loving the land alongside her mom and dad. Her passion for life was contagious, and she shared it freely with everyone. Whether she was out in the garden, or in the kitchen baking pies for the local curling rink, Frances had a way of making the world a better place.
She leaves behind a legacy of love… her children Pat (John) Bakker, Judy Douglas, Doug (Dianne) Hite; grandchildren, Allan (Leslie) Bakker, Jeff (Shannon) Bakker, Joel (Alice) Douglas, Sean (Emily) Douglas, Steven Hite, Shayleen (Brandon) Allin; great grandchildren Kennedy (Drew), Kai (Chelsey), Brody; Jack, Eli, Sadie; Sebastian, Gabriel, Henry; Hayden, Alexa; Sloan and Presley. Great great-grandchildren Huxley, Ella and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

We were so sorry to hear about Auntie Fran’s passing this past week.
What a remarkable life though!
101 years of memories, experiences, and love shared with so many.
While no amount of time feels like enough with someone we cherish, we hope there’s some comfort in knowing she lived such a beautiful long life and was able to meet not only her great grandchildren but also her great-great grandchildren!
Auntie Fran is at peace and reunited with Uncle Harry and all those who have gone before her. A raucous heavenly family reunion I am sure! xoxo
Please accept our heartfelt condolences – we will forever remember Auntie Fran with love and fondness. Much love and hugs to you all,
Shauntelle, Bob, Emma and Sophie xoxoxoxo
Condolences to Fran’s family and friends. We had great times with her when she visited Victoria for Sean and Emily’s wedding. Janice was able to see her on her last birthday in September 2025. Max had fun gardening with Fran here on our small farm. She weeded the potatoe patch with ease. TIme to rest in peace. A life well lived.
